Coastal Campus

The Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department is located at the UC Santa Cruz Coastal Science Campus. EEB faculty, staff, advising, labs and classrooms are located in the Coastal Biology Building, about three miles from the main UCSC Campus.

The Coastal Science Campus is also home to our expansive greenhouses, the Ocean Health Building/Center for Ocean Health, the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the California Department
of Fish & Wildlife’s Marine Wildlife Veterinary Care & Research Center, and the Seymour Marine Discovery Center.

  • Courses located in “CoastBio” rooms are held at the new Coastal Biology Building. 
  • Courses located in “Lg Discovery” rooms are held at the Seymour Marine Discovery Center.
  • Courses located in “Ocean Health” rooms are held at the Ocean Health Building
  • These facilities are located at UCSC’s Coastal Science Campus. They are not located on the main campus. Please carefully check the location of your courses when planning your schedule.

Coastal Science Campus Parking and Metro Bus Service

Free parking is available along Delaware St. The Metro Bus Route 20 provides service to the Coastal Campus.

Visiting Us

EEB faculty, department administration and advising, research facilities, and classrooms are located at the Coastal Biology Building and the Ocean Health Building.

We do not offer organized tours of the Coastal Biology Building. Tours of the main UCSC campus are offered by Undergraduate Admissions.

Coastal Science Campus Parking and Metro Bus Service

Parking Permits Required
UCSC parking permits are required to park
at the Coastal Science Campus (CSC) weekdays from 8:00am to 5:00pm, excepting holidays. The one exception to this requirement is the small visitor lot near the CSC entrance, which provides free three-hour parking to coastal access visitors.

UCSC “A” permits (faculty and staff), “B” permits (graduate students), “C” permits (undergraduates), and “MC” (motorcycle) permits will be valid at most CSC parking lots. “R” permits will not be valid.

Vistors to the CBB have access to the ParkMobile in Lot 206, adjacent to the Coastal Biology Building.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (Parking Permit Required)
EV charging stations are located in Seymour Center Lot 201, and in Coastal Biology Lot 205.

Metro Bus Service
SCMTD Metro operates Route 20 bus between CSC and the main campus.

The UCSC Visitors website also provides maps and directions and detailed parking information, as well as organized tours, virtual tours and other programs for those wishing to visit the campus.
